Belle Epicurean is a favorite of some students — who specifically like it’s atmosphere for off-campus relaxation. It has a fairly sophisticated vibe with it’s fancy French pastries and luckily it’s close enough for school that you only need to walk for a few minutes to get there. Not only is Belle a cafe which has pastries, it also contains a provisions marketplace which is pretty cool. Definitely hit up Belle for breakfast, lunch, or drinks, or if you’re just looking to snag a macaron after school.

Route from school to destination

Commons

The all-school lunch room, also known as the Commons, is where students K-12 eat lunch and get snacks during break. They serve a hot lunch everyday, along with a vegetarian version. I can honestly say that the commons serves delicious meals– everything from beef stroganoff to coconut curry and rice. For those days when you aren’t hungry for the hot lunch, the commons has a sandwich line and salad bar open as well. You can build your own sandwich or salad however you would like. Additionally, there is a fridge filled with soda, packaged gyoza, sushi, pre-made sandwiches, juice, string cheese, and so much more. As if this wasn’t enough already, there is a rack lined with all types of chips, crackers, and energy bars. For dessert, check out the small fridge behind the salad bar because there you will find ice cream and popsicles that will satisfy your sweet tooth. In the morning, the waffle maker is available, the coffee/tea/apple cider/hot chocolate machine is running, a tray of fresh pastries and bagels are out, and a full breakfast is served. Breakfast is usually presented buffet style and includes scrambled eggs, oatmeal, potatoes, bacon/sausage, and pre-wrapped breakfast sandwiches. Yum!

Every student is required to do commons duty once a year. You are partnered with another person from your advisory (usually you get to choose who).

Essential is a cute little cafe located near the school where students go to get crepes, omelets, tea, and pastries as well salads and sandwiches. They serve local coffee and juices and pride themselves on using only “the best ingredients” to create “superior artisan baked goods” — and you can tell. It’s close enough to walk there, eat, and walk back all within lunch and generally they serve the food up really quickly. Definitely one of the best spots for lunch in the area and a great space to just relax as well.

Teriyaki Bowl, or T-bowl, is one of the favorite places to eat off campus as the food is consistently good. It’s close distance to school makes it easy to walk there, eat, and walk back all within the 65 minute lunch block. Also, it’s easiest to call in your order when you start walking so that you can eat as soon as you get there and enjoy your lunch time with friend.
